Questions, answered honestly
Not the polished version. The real questions people ask us at the office, on the phone, and on WhatsApp, answered the way we would answer them in person.
Can't find your question
Use the chat bubble in the corner of this page, or send us a WhatsApp message. A real person answers, not a script.
Fair question, and we would ask it too. We are a registered Public Benefit Organisation that has simply not yet set up a payment gateway. Every EFT lands in our FNB business account, gets reconciled by our Fundraising and Administration Officer, and is logged against your name. You can also call our office directly to confirm receipt. It is more manual than a checkout page, but it is fully traceable.
We will not pretend zero percent goes to admin, that would be dishonest, a small team of social workers and care workers needs to be paid to keep programs running consistently. What we can tell you is our four programs (boys, men, families, and outreach) are where the bulk of funding goes, and you are always welcome to ask our office for a breakdown.
No problem, it happens often. Just email or WhatsApp us the date, amount, and your name, and our admin team will match it to the transaction manually.
Yes. Mention your preference, boys, men's dignity, families, or outreach, in the donation notification form or when you email proof of payment, and we will allocate it accordingly.
Usually within a few working days of us receiving your proof of payment. If tax season is approaching and you need it urgently, say so in your email and we will prioritise it.
Completely. Most of the men and families we support felt exactly that before their first visit. Our whole purpose is restoring dignity, not handing out pity. Nobody at our office will make you feel small for walking through the door.
No. Our counselling, mentorship, and support programs are free to the families and individuals who need them. That is the entire reason donations and partnerships matter so much to us.
Yes, this is exactly what our boys' mentorship and leadership program exists for. Sometimes a young man opens up to a mentor faster than to a parent, and that is not a failure on your part, it is just how it often works. Reach out and we will match him with the right person.
Our social workers follow standard professional confidentiality practice. The only exceptions are situations where there is risk of serious harm, which any registered social worker is bound to act on. If you are unsure what that means for your situation, ask us directly before you share anything, we would rather you feel safe than surprised.
That is enough reason on its own. Come by during office hours, no referral or assessment required for basic in kind support.
Yes, most of our volunteers started exactly there. What matters more than experience is consistency and genuine care. We will guide you into a role that fits your skills, whether that is admin, events, or direct mentorship.
Yes, because we are working with boys and vulnerable individuals, any mentor or volunteer in direct contact with them goes through a vetting process first. This protects the people we serve and you as a volunteer.
There is no fixed minimum. Some volunteers help at a single event, others mentor weekly for years. Tell us your availability on the interest form and we will find something that actually fits your life.
Our Program Director reviews it and reaches out, usually within a week, to set up a short conversation about where you would be the best fit.
No. Some of our most consistent support has come from small, local businesses, not large corporates. Regular, modest support often helps us plan better than a single large once off gift.
In many cases, yes. Event and program sponsorships can include your branding, mention this when you submit a partnership enquiry and we will discuss what is realistic.
We can provide updates on how funds or resources were used. As a smaller, growing organisation our formal reporting is still developing, so let us know your specific CSI requirements early and we will work with you on what we can provide.
Very. Food, clothing, stationery, and household items go directly to families who need them. For larger or bulk donations, contact us first so we can coordinate logistics and storage.
